For the 45th
time, Ghent will become one of Europe’s major cinema capitals for ten days thanks to the Film Fest Gent. Over the years, the annual event has grown to include screenings and other movie events as well as one of the world’s foremost movie soundtrack festivals.
True to its commitment to creating great movie experiences, Barco has been a long-time supporter of the event and this year is no exception. But there is a difference in 2018, as Barco is co-sponsoring the festival jointly with our newly-created cinema solutions joint venture Cinionic.
World premieres and the drama of Kursk
This year’s line-up is particularly rich as no less than six world premieres are programmed – including the Belgian premiere of 'Girl' by Lukas Dhont which made such an impression at Cannes and is Belgium’s candidate for the Oscars this year. In all, 10 titles by or with Belgian talent will be screened.
Notable amongst these is “Kursk”, starring Belgium’s own Matthias Schoenaerts alongside Léa Seydoux and Colin Firth, directed by none other than the Danish director Thomas Vinterberg.
A special section will provide a unique opportunity to watch Hungarian movies outside of DVD or cinema libraries. The concert cycle features soundtracks of TV series and special sci-fi night called “2001 and Beyond”. The full programme of movies and soundtrack concerts can be found on the official website.
